Spanish Immersion

Overview

Ages 4 ½ to 5 years
Program Schedule Minimum: 5 mornings & 2 afternoons

The Spanish Immersion Program at Cornerstone began September 2005 with the intention of supporting the early acquisition of comprehension of a spoken secondary language (Spanish) through classroom instruction. This program has since grown to include the opportunities for practice in acquiring skills with both spoken and written second language. Our Spanish Immersion students are age 4 ½ by September of the school year enrolled, have had prior Montessori experience, and are selected for this program through teacher and parent recommendation. The Spanish Immersion Program currently is offered in connection with our Pre-K and Kindergarten Program, although we do anticipate the program will grow in such a way as to be included in all Preschool classrooms, as well. The Spanish Immersion Program curriculum is based on developmentally appropriate activities presented initially in English then in Spanish, the children then have the opportunity to pursue those activities in either Spanish or English.
